Events for children

Please click on the 'Events' link in the menu at the top of the screen for more details about when our libraries hold their children's sessions.

Baby Bounce

Our Baby Bounce sessions are for babies aged 0-2 years and are a great way to help develop your babies language skills, as well as being fun!  We'll sing songs and have some instruments for you little one to play with.  All sessions are term time only.

Wiggle and Giggle

Our Wiggle and Giggle sessions are for children aged 2-4 years.

Singing nursery rhymes has been proven to help children develop their language and pre-literacy skills.  By using rhythmic language and repetition children learn how words are formed, supporting the early stages of language development.  Using actions with songs improves hand-eye co-ordination.  The sessions are a shared time between parent/carer and your child.  They can be of value for families who have English as a second language.

Storytime

Our Storytime sessions run for 30 minutes, during which time we'll read some picture books and do some colouring.  Reading with children is a great way to help develop literacy, language and listening skills.  These sessions run during term time only.  For more information about where and when these sessions run, please click on the Events link at the top of the screen.

Reading Buddies

Our Reading Buddies session are aimed at school aged children who have started to learn to read.  They will be paired with a library volunteer who will listen while your child reads their book, and provide support, helping to build your little one's reading confidence.  These sessions run during term time.  For more information about where and when these sessions run, please click on the Events link at the top of the screen.
